I’m always keen to try new beauty products, but I’m always wary about the price — especially in lockdown. For me, a full face is now a treat (or a revelation after days of not having the energy to brush my hair let alone apply a red lip). But to boost my self care routine during lockdown, I’ve started attempting to do my makeup at least once a week.
Most of my products were Revolution, because I’ve always been nervous to venture out of what I trust. But starting this Beauty Bargains column meant I needed to add some variety into my beauty routine, and so I’ve started buying products outside of the trusty R.
But I’m only sticking to bargains — especially because you just don’t know what you’re going to like; and because I’m not a makeup pro, I’m keeping it simple. I’m also not someone who can afford to splash out on makeup, but I do like to treat myself now and again — and I’m sure many people can relate to that!
So today, I’ve compiled a list of 10 under £10 beauty bargains, including products from NYX, The Ordinary, and even Morphe.
Sample Beauty Loose Eyeshadow Sparkle Pigment — £4.75
I absolutely love a loose pigmented eyeshadow, and this Sample Beauty one is just that. It’s heavily sparkly and perfect for a cut crease. It comes in a glass jar and can be used alone as an eyeshadow, or blended into other products for a matte finish.
NYX Turnt Up Lipstick In Playdate — £1.99
NYX for under £2? Yes please. This statement lipstick is lightweight and creamy and easy to apply. It’s one of a whole range of statement-making shades. This one is light lilac, with a high pigment colour and creamy formula.
W7 Prime And Glow Illuminating Primer — £1.99
This primer is the perfect base for your makeup, it gives you a smooth complexion and glow. It’s also very easy to blend.
Revolution Face Quad Highlighting Palette In Incandescent — £5.99
I love this palette, and it’s currently on sale. It comes with shades of highlighters in the colours of pera, gold and pink.
NYX Sculpt & Highlight Face Duo Foundation — £3.99
Another NYX product. I think NYX foundations are brilliant. They’re easily blendable and give you a smooth finish, and they actually stay put.
Morphe Make It Big Mascara Mini — £8
I only have a few Morphe products because a lot of them are quite expensive, but you can get this mini mascara for £8. It’s designed to add volume and lengthen lashes, and features an hourglass wand and long-lasting formula.
The Ordinary Coverage Foundation SPF — £6
We’re big fans of The Ordinary here! Their foundations are lightweight and non-oily, and have a pigmented formula, giving you a smooth finish.
Carmex Naturally Intensely Hydrating Lip Balm – Watermelon — £3.95
Carmex is one of the best brands for hydrating your lips. It’s been a life saver for me, as I have compulsive skin picking disorder and my face is my main area of picking — especially my lips. But this lip balm is gentle on your lips and doesn’t burn the skin after picking. It also smells lovely due to its watermelon flavour.
Facial Cleansing Brush Paw — £7
I’m only really just venturing into my skincare journey, thanks to our Beauty & Style writer Vanese Maddix, who has written some fabulous stuff on skincare and even did a live on Instagram. And so I’ve started testing different products and this facial cleansing brush does the job.
Forever Flawless Dynamic Chilled Eyeshadow Palette — £7
Finally, I absolutely love this palette. From my past Beauty Bargains columns, you’ll know I am such a huge fan of Revolution products, and that’s because they’re affordable, great quality and the eyeshadow palettes — like this one — are beautiful. This palette in particular features eight colours; all green and neutral tones to create ‘looks outside of your comfort zone’. The eyeshadows are super pigmented and blend well — which is always a bonus.
