When you’re struggling mentally, it can be impossible to focus your mind on anything let alone work for eight hours straight. And therefore, you may have to take sick leave; which means finances might be quite tight.
As a full-time freelancer who’s been working on The Breakdown for the past two months, my budget has been tight myself. But I recently realised that I was still deserving of treats and making myself feel good.
Beauty products make me feel good. Postnatal depression and being a new mother has meant that I haven’t had the time nor the energy (or the motivation) to get dolled up in a long time; but this month I took the plunge.
I set myself a budget of £20, and managed to get a few items I loved, that have made me feel more like myself again.
With that in mind, I thought a new column focusing on weekly beauty bargains might be a nice thing to do for anyone else who loves a good eyeshadow palette. And I thought I’d start that today — and for every Sunday ongoing.
So, here are 10 under £10 beauty bargains that I’m loving this week.
This Candy liquid blush, £6.99
I’m all for liquid blushes! And I love this colour, too.
These Cute Headbands, £7.59
10 for £7.59 works out at 76p per band! They’re thick and the fabric is nice and soft. I’ve been wearing mine since last night because I think they’re super cute. The grey one is my fave. Amazon Prime next day delivery is a bonus.
This Makeup Revolution Forever Flawless Dynamic Allure Eyeshadow Palette, £6.99
Revolution Beauty has a sale on right now and I love this glittery eye shadow palette. The colours are lovely and the sparkle is so pigmenty. Love it.
Another Revolution Buy — This Brow Goals Palette, £6
Full disclosure: I actually asked for this for Christmas, and was pleasantly surprised by it. As someone who’s always stuck to the all-trusty brow pencil, I wanted to try an actual kit out. It comes with absolutely everything you need for perfect brows at just £6.
Okay, One More: This Revolution X Jack Palette, £3
I’m including this one because it’s only £3; and a bargain, if you ask me. It features matte and shimmer shades and to create four different eye makeup looks.
Palmer’s Coconut Oil Leave-In Conditioner, £4.99
I have used this for as long as I can remember. I have thick, wavy hair, and it gets tangled and matted very easily. I spray this into my hair when it’s damp after washing, and it leaves my hair silky smooth for days.
This E.l.f. Wild Rose Lip Gloss, £3
I love rose colours, and this lacquer lip gloss is maximum colour and shine — and it’s formulated with Vitamin E to moisturize your lips.
These £5.40 Vegan Bath Bombs
I love bath bombs as self-care gifts, and these ones are suitable for vegans. The 10 Bubble Tea bath fizzies are packed with raspberries, strawberries and blackberries and contain white tea and goji berry extracts.
This Hair Repair Treatment, £3.99
I love this brand! The hair repair treatment always leaves my hair feeling fresh and soft.
And Finally, These Pretty Velvet Scrunchies, £3.99
You can never go wrong with a scrunchie — and these velvet ones are 8 for £3.99. I have a whole box full of scrunchies, and I love the velvet feel!
I hope that you are able to treat yourself this month — especially as January is always stressful and full-on.
Take care of yourselves, and I’ll start collating a list for next week!
