Five easy hairstyles for lounging around the house

With the majority of us currently working from home, the number one hairstyle is most likely the age old “messy bun get stuff done” updo.

Switching your style and putting in a little more effort can be beneficial to mental health. Feeling put together can help with productivity and confidence and in a few simple steps you can change it up with a new style that is less bed head, more Zoom-meeting-chic.

From off-duty model style sleek buns to the latest braiding trends, these quick and easy no-fuss hairstyles are going to be your new WFH saviour. Say goodbye to bad hair days.

After brushing through hair to remove any tangles, use a rat-tail comb to create a smooth part.

Gather all hair, pull it back tightly and let it sit on the nape of the neck. Twist into a bun and secure with a hair tie or scrunchie. Secure the bun with bobby pins. Smooth out any bumps at the front of the hair with a comb and smooth down with a little gel for a super sleek finish.

Bubble braids

A cool twist on the traditional ponytail, bubble braids is the hairstyle of the moment, seen all over social media. The super-cute look is so low maintenance it can be achieved in under a minute. All you need are some hair ties.

Tie your hair into a ponytail. High or low, any type of ponytail is great for this look or mix it up and go for two pigtails.

Take another hair tie and fasten it a couple of inches below the first one.

Using your fingers, gently tease the space in between both ties, loosening the hair to form a voluminous bubble shape.

Repeat the process until you get to the end of the hair, leaving the bottom section loose.

Tease each bubble once more and set with hairspray.

Half-up, Half-down

The half-up, half-down is a simple hairstyle ideal for all lengths and textures. Easily disguising greasy roots or any unwanted frizz, it is an effortless style that’ll quickly become your go-to in between washes. For a fresh take on the classic style, try half-up half-down space buns.

Use a rat-tail comb to part the front of the hair in the middle, stopping at the crown.

Pull the top layer of both sides into pigtails, creating two small high ponytails on the top of the head.

Tease each ponytail before twisting into buns and securing with hair ties and bobby pins, if needed.

Braided top knot

A unique take on the classic top knot that’s most likely been your go-to since WFH began, a braided top knot will add a little more pizzaz without much more effort required.

Dressing gown curls

On damp hair, place the belt from your dressing gown on the top of your head, securing in place at the top with bobby pins to stop it from moving around.

On each side, take the front section of hair and twist it round the belt, then pick up another lower section of hair, add it to the first bunch and twist.

Repeat the process until you reach the bottom of the hair, grabbing and twisting.

Secure with a hair tie and leave in overnight, or for at least 3-4 hours.
