I’ve lived with mental illness for most of my life. Symptoms started when I was just four years old, experiencing psychosis; hallucinations mainly. I remember my mum taking me to the doctors and being told I had an allergy to E-numbers. Starting on a bland diet, all over again, the hallucinations stopped. But later on in life, the symptoms returned.
I was diagnosed with bipolar disorder at the age of 20 after experiencing a severe manic episode. I have taken medication ever since, and though I still experience the manic and depressive episodes, they are not as severe, they are more regulated and I am able to plan for them now that my medication helps me to feel more stable.
But that doesn’t mean I’m not open to trying new things. So when Evopure suggested I give their Organic CBD Oil, their UK Broad Spectrum, Lab Tested Hemp, I was keen to try.
I’d never tried CBD before but knew there were benefits, including reducing anxiousness and also helping with pain. As someone with a chronic condition, ulcerative colitis (a form of inflammatory bowel disease), I also thought it might be a good idea to try during a flare up.
I started taking the drops a week ago, actually adding to my decaf coffee.
Of course, you can take the drops alone, as many people do, but I love a coffee and thought it might be good to combine both when I’m most relaxed.
Evopure describes CBD Oil drops as being a ‘great source for enhanced wellness’.
All of their products are independently lab tested. They pride themselves on being a brand built by skeptics, for skeptics.
They add: “We give full transparency on the ingredients we use, lab reports and origin of ingredients. Evopure CBD oils are sourced from broad spectrum CBD, as opposed to the lesser quality isolate-based oils.
“All CBD is sourced from organically grown hemp, and made in the UK. We’ve partnered with Get Mads to offset our carbon and plastic footprints, supporting certified eliminate and plastic solutions — helping us become a carbon positive business’.
With all of this information in mind, I was happy to give the CBD Oil drops a go.
In all honesty, I didn’t experience anything magical straightaway. I wasn’t expecting to. But I think knowing I was trying something that could help produce feelings of calm, made me more set on relaxing, which was nice.
And, a couple of hours after trying the oil, I did actually feel more naturally relaxed. Though CBD Oil can have side effects, I didn’t experience any. I’ve been feeling very anxious lately, and it helped to reduce these symptoms. It didn’t cure the anxiety or get rid of it completely — but I do feel that it helped me to manage it a little better, and helped to clear my head.
I ended up using the oil drops at my most anxious periods, experiencing feelings of calmness and comfort.
As mentioned above, I also have a chronic illness — and I feel the CBD Oil drops really helped with my chronic pain.
When I’m flaring, I experience intense stomach cramps. But the CBD helped to numb this pain, and in turn helped me to cope with it better. This is something I was pleasantly surprised about.
I’m a member of an online inflammatory bowel disease community and I have seen so much written about the benefits of CBD, and had never tried it myself, always a skeptic.
But not one to turn down a freebie, I’m really glad I tried the drops, and now feel it’s something I’ll be adding to my daily life, to help me to feel calmer, more relaxed, and able to cope with painful flare ups.
