Lavender

The most popular and commonly used essential oil is Lavender. Used for stress relief and easing the mind, Lavender is a popular essential oil that is used in a variety of health and beauty products such as pillow sprays, bathing accompaniments (like bubble baths and bath bombs), and candles. The pure essential oil is also a great product to invest in — use in an oil diffuser or burner with a touch of water to fill the air with the calming scent of lavender. Perfect to add aroma to your home when meditating or relaxing or great to add a few drops to a spray bottle filled with water to make your very own DIY pillow spray.

Rose

Another popular essential oil fragrance is Rose. Floral and delicate, Rose is a feminine fragrance that can be used around your home and in your day-to-day life to lift your spirits and invoke a feeling of comfort. The pure essential oil of rose can be applied directly onto the skin (with a carrier oil) to ease pain and discomfort, including cramps caused by menstruation. Rose oil is also anti-fungal, anti-bacterial and is proven to lower feelings of anxiety. Rose essential oil and the scent of rose can be found in a number of products such as perfumes, candles and reed diffusers – the perfect fragrance for making your home feel like a safe sanctuary.

Essential oils like lemon, orange and grapefruit make for wonderful fragrances to introduce into your home. Not only are they set to be a big trend for the summer months, but they also have multiple benefits too. The scents of citrus fruits are proven to relieve stress and alleviate symptoms of anxiety, a Japanese study from 2014 confirms this

Ways To Use Essential Oils Around Your Home

In Spray Bottles

A sustainable way to make either air fresheners or pillow mists would be to add a few drops of your chosen essential oil to a spray bottle filled with water. This is a sustainable and cost-effective way to get the most out of your money, while helping to save the planet. All while making your home smell beautiful and aiding your wellbeing.

In An Oil Burner Or Oil Diffuser

A traditional tealight oil burner (similar to a wax melt warmer), or an electric oil diffuser are two brilliant options to burn your oil in. For the traditional oil burner you simply fill the dish with water and add a few drops of your desired fragrance before popping a tealight underneath, and for the electric oil diffuser you add water to the tank and then add your desired essential oils. Both will release a gorgeous potent fragrance of your choice, while providing you with a warm glow.

Use Them Topically

Many pure essential oils are great to be used topically, but always take care when using them in this way. When applying pure essential oils directly to your skin, always mix the essential oil with a ‘carrier oil’ – this can be almond, coconut or olive oil. Never ingest essential oils and always do a patch test first. Using essential oils topically have a whole host of benefits, especially for pain relief and mental wellbeing.

Pop A Few Drops Into Your Warm Bathwater

Popping a few drops of an essential oil into your bathwater can turn your daily bathing ritual into a magical experience. As well as calming your senses and potentially relieving any aches and pains (depending on the oil you choose), the scent of the essential oil will fill your bathroom with fragrance and leave your skin silky smooth and lightly scented.

Essential oils are incredibly versatile and are a great way to relieve stress while adding a pleasant, natural fragrance your home. But which scent will you choose?
