This month our subscription box focus is SheSpot, a sexual wellness box filled with products across a range of features such as pleasure, sex, intimate care, and mood.
Founders Kalila and Holly started SheSpot earlier this year (2021) to try to break down some of the residual taboos that still exist around female pleasure and sexual wellness.
They have both spent their twenties feeling frustrated by the lack of accessible, safe and female-focused settings in which to explore their sexuality – so they created SheSpot!
SheSpot is a community where all members receive a curated selection of premium sexual wellness products every 3 months. The products span sexual pleasure (e.g. luxury vibrators and lube) to more holistic self-love treats like aromatherapy and mood candles. They hope that this experience allows women to confidently explore and discover the wonderful new sexual wellness brands that are now available – in a market which can otherwise be quite overwhelming and often intimidating!
It’s also really important to Holly and Kalila to support vulnerable women in the community. This Autumn, for each box sold they will donate to the wonderful Refugee Women Connect who help to build a safe life in the UK for women refugees and asylum seekers.
They very kindly sent me an Autumn box and here’s what I thought.
Arriving discreetly through the post, inside the Autumn SheSpot box was beautifully packaged and felt like a moment of self-care just to open it up and look at what was offered. There was a handwritten card which was a lovely extra and is available for all boxes bought as a one-off. Then came the fun…
Knude Society – Gwen Clitoral Vibrator (RRP £47) – I love that SheSpot is getting right in there with a great, cool little vibe without embarrassment. They’re not skirting around the issue of pleasure, or including something novelty just to tick a box. It’s obvious they really do care about their subscriber’s sexual pleasure. It’s waterproof, USB chargeable, and designed to fit right into the palm of your hand.
Foria Wellness – Awaken Arousal Oil with CBD (RRP £44) – This topical oil has a subtly sensual scent and it’s so easy to use. Again, another product that really gets to the heart of what SheSpot is creating without feeling the need for novelty to mask embarrassment.
It’s Our Remedy – Moon Swings CBD (RRP £32) – I love the ethos of Our Remedy, they’re cruelty free and vegan and they help to fight period poverty with every bottle sold. I can’t wait to try this and see if it helps my insomnia and the awful anxiety I get when I wake every morning at 4am!
Bloom & Blossom – Pyjamarama Dry Body Oil (RRP £12) – One of my favourite skincare brands, I’d been wanting to try the dry oil spray for ages so I was super excited to see this. It smells so gorgeous and it’s easy to use, even on my dry sensitive skin.
Ecooking – Intimate Wash (RRP £12) – I’ve never used an intimate wash before, I’m always a bit wary of washes designed for areas that are self cleaning and really sensitive. But this fragrance-free wash is low pH and Allergy Certified and I used it all over and found it didn’t dry out my sensitive skin.
The box also included a sample of ‘Oh my Flo’ tea from Our Remedy and a sachet of lube from Into the Wylde.
The SheSpot box was an absolute treat to receive. The people at SheSpot have curated items that really get to the heart of sexual wellness without beating around the bush (no pun intended!) Everything in the Autumn box felt special and luxurious, and they made me feel empowered without feeling embarrassed.
