This month I’ve tried some pretty epic products that I can see myself repurchasing for the foreseeable future. The cold weather and dark nights have meant that I’ve really had to push myself to get ready, up and out. Meaning that I’ve actually worn a little bit of makeup – don’t all clap at once.
Emma Lewisham Illuminating Oil Cleanser
This oily cleanser is a complete dream. It’s packed with 23 high performing botanicals, nutrients and antioxidants that make for the perfect cleanse at the end of the day. This time last year my skin was a bit flaky due to the cold weather, so using an oil means that I can deeply cleanse my skin but also keep it hydrated. Usually oils will clog my pores and leave me feeling a bit too greasy, but not this one. I take my bottle into the bath with me and love the luxurious feeling of the oil melting over my skin. The smell is divine too. I’ll definitely be repurchasing, it’s one that’s worth the slightly higher price tag.
You, Me & Earth Organic Bamboo Cotton Pads
I’ve been a fan of You, Me & Earth since I tried out their straws. I’m always excited to try products that are good for our planet, especially when they’re affordable and great quality. Because I use a lot of toners, I usually have a few cotton pads to throw away, so these reusable pads are perfect. There are 16 in a set, and they come with a mesh laundry bag, so when the bag is around half full I get them washed so that I always have a stash ready to go. Being 70% bamboo and 30% cotton, these pads are beyond soft and wash beautifully. I use them to take my makeup off, cleanse my skin and apply particular skincare products. Adore them.
Good Molecules Niacinamide Brightening Toner
My holy grail of toners. I’ve struggled to get rid of under the skin bumps across my forehead for years, and this Good Molecules toner has done the job nobody else could. The soothing blend of ingredients with niacinamide has helped brighten my skin and shrink my pores – what a dream. Their products are never tested on animals, and the packaging is so beautiful. The bottle lasted me so long and is really affordable too. I’ll be repurchasing ASAP.
Maria Nila Sheer Silver Shampoo
The best silver shampoo I’ve ever tried, hands down. Usually I find that highly pigmented shampoos, like purple ones, leave my scalp a bit coloured and itchy. This Maria Nila shampoo is packed with blackberry extract that helps neutralise brassy tones and the smell is so fresh and floral. Of course, us blondes need something to keep our coloured hair in check while salons are closed. There’s also the added extras of their Colour Guard Complex and UV radiation protection. No sulphates, no parabens, 100% vegan and cruelty free, along with eco friendly packaging. The price is a little higher than what I’d usually spend on shampoo, but because it lathers so well, I find that I use a lot less.
Blistex MedPlus
I swear by this lip balm. I use it every night before bed and cake my lips in it when they begin to show cracks. I have a terrible habit for picking the skin on my lips once it flakes a little, and this balm helps restore them back to health. With anything like Vaseline, I usually find myself having to reapply constantly, but I don’t with this. Plus, there is added SPF 15. A bargain at £2.69. I’ve just restocked my back up pile.
Frank Body Creamy Face Scrub
I’ve found my favourite exfoliator, ever. For somebody who doesn’t drink coffee or particularly like the smell of it, I was skeptical of trying something that would be so close to my nose, made of coffee grinds. But, it’s been the best gentle yet powerful scrub, keeping my spots at bay and leaves my skin feeling really supple. I’ve got a little left in this bottle but will repurchase another straight away as I use it several times a week.
Wild Deodorant
Wild deodorants don’t contain anything to make them an antiperspirant, but they contain ingredients like tapioca starch which helps absorb the sweat that you will produce. while I love the idea behind Wild, what they stand for, and definitely think reusable essentials are the way forward, I didn’t find it too easy to apply and it crumbled a bit under my arm. I think I prefer the wet, rollerball type of roll on. However, I really like the scent offering, and it lasts a long time, so I will try another scent.
Rimmel London Scandeleyes Volume on Demand Waterproof Mascara
We all need a good waterproof mascara. Well, I do, I cry more than I do anything lately. I’d heard great things about this mascara so added it to a shop I was doing. Unfortunately, I wasn’t a great fan. It gave a pretty natural black coating to my lashes, but I didn’t notice any of the volumising qualities that it boasts. It is a buildable mascara, but I was quite disappointed with the overall effect. I don’t think I’ll be repurchasing this one as I’ve already started to use another.
Kat Von Vegan Beauty Tattoo Liner Eyeliner
It’s all about the eyes right now, especially as we’re living in a masked world. This has been my favourite liquid liner for a while now, and I’ve already gone through two pens. It’s clearly a best seller for a reason. The pigment is perfectly black and opaque without being too harsh, and is truly smudge resistant. Mine did run out a little quickly, but I think I left the lid off and may have caused a dry up. Perfect for creating that iconic flick that I’m definitely not famous for and still trying to master.
Ere Perez Oat Milk Foundation in Latte
One of my favourite no-makeup makeup products. This foundation is non-greasy and although it’s quite sheer and light, it’s long-lasting and high in quality. Made from natural ingredients, it’s been great to wear under masks – there’s no feeling that your pores are clogged or your skin is suffocating that you usually get with a foundation when you’re out all day. It’s perfectly buildable too, and I’d recommend applying with clean fingertips or a damp beauty blender. My tube still has a bit of life left in it, but I’ll definitely buy another for the summer (hopefully in the next shade up if I can catch a tan!)
