Treat yourself this Valentine’s Day with these self-care gifts

Putting yourself first shouldn’t be as revolutionary as it’s made out to be. But with life, work and a global pandemic getting in the way, it’s natural we want to do everything else first before taking a moment to think about what we need ourselves.

Let this Valentine’s Day (also known as just another Sunday) be a chance for you to stop and think about what you need and want. Sunday and Valentine’s Day are perfect times to practise self care.

Personalised Relaxation Gift Set.

A gift set straight through your letterbox. From me to me. Nothing wrong with indulging in me-time with a gift from yourself. This spa inspired gift set is perfect for a self care valentine’s day and everything is eco-friendly and made in Britain.

Coco and Eve Hair Mask

Your hair deserves to be loved. It deserves to have time spent on it. A hair mask is a great way to give it the attention and nourishment it needs. Coco and Eve boasts of their brilliant formula. It is a bit on the pricey side and for curly heads like myself, coconut sometimes angers the frizz so I recommend this alternative by Garnier which includes aloe vera.

Oil Diffuser

There are a lot of different brands of oil diffusers, but this one looks lovely and has positive reviews. Each oil scent can encourage senses of relaxation and calm. I can imagine sitting with spa music playing, a lavender scented room, just taking some deep breaths as I process the day.

The Power Of Now

So many of us overthink. Playback situations in our head. Worry about the future. Eckhart Tolle looks at how to live in the moment and focus on the present drawing inspiration from spirituality and buddhism. If you find your mind going into overdrive, it might be worth a read.

A Guide To Good

Self care isn’t just bubble baths and face masks. A big part of self care is self reflection. This isn’t always pretty but essential as we grow as people. A Guide to Good by Elena Welsh is a guided journal, “a road map to feeling better… with proven therapeutic exercises”. Like all good things, this is meant to take time. Sometimes it might be helpful to step away from it for a couple of days to let your mind process the information. You can then go back with your new mindset.

Morphy Richards Slow Cooker

Hear me out. This might not be the first thing you think of ‘Self-Care’ but your body deserves nourishing hearty food. A slow cooker is brilliant for making stews and you can pack them with veggies and/or meats at the start of the day and by dinner time you have a wholesome bowl of food that will warm you up. My personal favourite is a chicken and chorizo stew with potatoes, onions, carrots, peppers, tinned tomatoes and herbs and spices.

A Cosy Dressing Gown

Nothing like putting on a dressing gown right after it’s been on the radiator or in the tumble dryer. So warm. So soft. Like a hug. Treat yourself to a proper good one. With all the snow covering the UK, it doesn’t look like it’s going to warm up anytime soon.

Herbivore Exfoliate And Glow From Head To Toe Set

Show your body some care and attention head to toe with Herbivore Exfoliating set. It has everything you need to scrub and exfoliate your body and face to give it that wonderful glow.

Body Shop’s Body Butter

After all that exfoliating you need to moisturise, and why not treat yourself to a Shea Body Butter from the Body Shop? Take the time to moisturise all over your body, not forgetting elbows, knees and heels.
